At Wheatsville we focus on quality and equality.
While offering a full range of organic and natural foods and
the best selection of locally-produced food products, we
also carry the traditional American staples you'd expect to
see at the corner grocer.
More than just a healthful, economic
way to support the local economy, we're fun too. Wheatsville
is a great place to relax on patio, grab a quick lunch,
catch up on local events, or just meet some of the nicest
folks you'd ever hope to find.
Whether your taste runs toward local
beer or organic wines, smoothies or sodas - Wheatsville has
it covered.
Groceries
Wheatsville exists to provide the products our members want
to buy. That's why we have such a diverse selection. If
you're looking for traditional, natural, organic, imported,
comfort, ethnic, vegan, fast, home-grown, vegetarian, fun,
junk, or gourmet food - you'll likely find it here. And if
not, let us know and we'll order it for you.
Produce
Wheatsville carries a full-line of organic, traditional,
pesticide-free and transitional produce. We have Austin's
best selection of locally grown fruits, vegetables, and
herbs. Let Wheatsville be your farmers' market every day of
the week! Look for local produce from Amador Farm, P/2
Organics, Hairston Creek Farm, Tecolote Farm, Montesino
Farm, Reliable Organics, and Buena Tierra Farm.
Cheese
Set a course for Cheese Island! We have a new free-standing
cheese display filled with a greatly expanded choice of
cheese deliciousness. From local handcrafted farmstead
cheese to vegan cheese, Wheatsville is the place to go for
yummy cheese. Our wide selection hails from 12 countries and
includes shredded, traditional, vegan, natural, raw-milk,
sheep, goat and cow's milk cheeses. The "Wee Cheese"
(bite-sized cuts) are a great way to taste your way through
the cheese world. Local cheeses from Pure Luck Dairy,
Wateroak Farm, and Brazos Valley are some of our
favorites.
Beer &
Wine
We carry a full-range of beer and wine with an eye toward
the local and organic. Texas microbreweries and wineries are
coming out with a lot of great tastes, and you can explore
them here. While focusing on the distinctive, we also carry
a variety of popular wines and beers, and never lose sight
of the bottom line. You won't find high mark-ups on our
products - no matter how high the quality.
Deli
Open 7:30am-9pm daily, our vegan and vegetarian-friendly
deli offers delicious sandwiches, smoothies, baked goods,
soups, spreads, sides, and salads made fresh daily from
natural meats and organic produce and grains. In the morning
we offer custom breakfast tacos until 11am. We also carry a
variety of ready to eat meals, sandwiches, soups, salsas,
and salads. Add a beverage (organic coffee or juice, a
smoothie or soda) and you have a wholesome meal to enjoy on
our covered patio. We always have organic coffee brewing,
and it's one of the best deals in town! Warning-- if you try
our Tempeh Chili Frito Pie or our Popcorn Tofu, you may
become seriously addicted!

PETA-approved items, are many locally manufactured and
handmade wares. We sell NO bodycare products that are tested

Meat
Meet your meat! This is not your standard "super market"
meat selection. All of our choices for products are
based on sustainability, ethics, and wholesomeness. No feed
lot cattle. No caged confinement. No
chemicals. No bull. We provide some of the best
choices of locally and ethically raised meat from the
central Texas agricultural community. Local family-run
farms; the same that you see at local farmers markets.
Look for Thunderheart Bison, Dewberry Hills Farm, Bastrop
Cattle Company, Richardson's Farm, Loncito's Grass-fed Lamb,
Windy Bar Ranch, Buddy's Natural Chicken, and
Pederson's Sausages.
We also support in animal welfare
conscience brands like Niman Ranch Meats, Organic
Prairie and Applegate Farms. Many of our
products carry either the Certified.org or
AnimalWelfareapproved.org label. We're proud to offer
a robust selection of gluten-free, uncured, nitrite
free, msg-ree meat products for all to
enjoy.
When it comes to seafood, we take
extra steps to ensure that you can buy with
confidence. With guidance from the Seafood Watch List,
provided by the Monterey Bay aquarium, we provide only the
best choices available. www.ecofish.com/about/advisory.htm
We also provide a full service meat
case, complete with knowledgeable and skilled butchers ready
to help you with orders and questions. You can buy
wholesome, ethically raised meat with confidence at
Wheatsville Food Co-op.

Dairy and
Refrigerated
We carry a wide variety of dairy and refrigerated products
from staples like milk, eggs and yogurt to beverages like
kombucha and kefir with an emphasis on organically-raised
animals and ingredients, support of fellow cooperatives and
independent businesses, and support of local farmers and
producers. Inside the coolers, we're proud to offer:
- Alexander
Family Farms eggs from
antibiotic- and hormone-free, free-range chickens raised
on a local farm. Kim Alexander delivers them himself each
week.
- Butter, milk, eggs and soymilk
from Organic
Valley, one of the leading
businesses in organic farming and a cooperative of almost
1,200 family farms. Most of the Organic Valley milk we
sell comes from Texas farms.
- Wateroak
Farm goat milk and yogurt
from nearby Robertson County, Texas, where Mark and Pam
Burow have been raising dairy goats for almost 10 years.
Mark himself delivers his milk, yogurt and cheese each
week.
- Award-winning salsas from
locally-owned Ana's
Unlimited and Texas Teaxs

our animal pals out of the fun so we stock a selection of
natural, organic, and traditional foods for cats, dogs and
wild birds.
